University High Will Take Perfect Season To Superdome for State Division II Title
The University High Cubs will take their seemingly unstoppable offense and a perfect 13-0 record to the Louisiana Superdome next Thursday for a showdown with the best football team in Louisiana history, the John Curtis Patriots of River Ridge. U-High sealed their place in the championship game with an overwhelming victory over cross-town rival Parkview Baptist, the defending state 3A champion. U-High won that match 58-23 in front of more than 5,000 fans at Parkview’s field. Interest in U-High is fueled in part by QB Manny Miles, son of LSU coach Les Miles.
Despite John Curtis’ parade of state championships over the past 40 years, U-High seems mentally prepared. Some teams fold against Curtis during pre-game warmups, but that is an unlikely fate for U-High, which plans to win it all.
